In One Plus One...The Infinity of Possibilities, Uche Edochie puts together a visually exciting range of works that strike a perfect balance between colors and symbols. The human face becomes a tapestry for inscribing motifs that are both decorative and mystical. On the one hand, Edochie's random yet controlled inscription alludes to the traditional practice of using the skin as a versatile canvas for decorative composition, communicative intent, and for accentuating women's senusuality. Simultaneously, he presents the face as the appropriate arena within which to launch a complex discourse about revealed and hidden dimensions of human personality. The faces we encounter speak of faces as mirrors of feelings. But at the same time, these faces with deep fissures and sewn together parts, are masks that could skillfully mislead by deliberately concealing true feeling.
