SUBMISSION
 
  Articles for Ijele: Art eJournal will be selected based on the results of blind reviews. Submissions are invited of original manuscripts, interviews of artists, book and exhibition reviews, and critical commentaries on any topical issue related to the creative expressions of African peoples, and the works of African artists and artists of African descent in any region of the world. We welcome submissions that are sufficiently current that will benefit from the timely turnaround facilitated by the electronic format. Each article will be sent to two scholars for review; the editors will approve articles for publication based on the opinions of the reviewers. All submissions must be original and the article must not have been accepted for publication elsewhere.
 
 

Submissions should conform to scholarly standards within the humanities, preferably The Chicago Manual of Style. Articles should include a brief (200 words or less) abstract and a short biography (100 words or less) with author's full name, title, current affiliation and a brief description of recent work on a separate page. Submit article by attachment in either Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (.rtf) to ij-editors@africaresource.com. Receipt of all submissions will be acknowledged by email within seven days.

 
 

Suggested lengths:

Articles: 20-30 pages, maximum of 8 digital images (scanned).
Exhibitions: Curatorial statement and objectives, 10-15 pages, maximum of 20 digital images.
Artist portfolios: 5-6 pages (text), maximum of 16 digital images.

1) All digital images must be saved under IBM [.png and/or .jpg] format.

2) Do not send slides or photographs.

3) Copyright permission must be given before images can be published. Africa Resource Center retains the rights to all digital images published in its site.

 
 

Endnotes:

The endnote citation style is preferred. Notes should be created using Microsoft Word.

Authors should refrain from using underline. Please indicate placement preference of images by using the notation: [Fig. 1 .jpg/png here]. The editorial staff reserves the right to determine inclusion or to change the size or placement of all graphics.

 
  Authors of contributions accepted for publication in the journal must explore and implement hyperlinks to books, articles, and other sites of interest (including such as publishers' web sites) and input the name of the item with the URL of it in parentheses.
 
  Authors of articles accepted for publication must submit an abstract of the article in 200 words (placed on the page of the table of contents page of the issue) as well as an author's profile of 200 words (placed with the article); authors of book reviews, review articles, and bibliographies must send an author's and/or reviewer's profile of 200 words (placed with the review article or review).
